Job Description
Inspire the next generation of scientists as a General Education Science Teacher in a high school setting in the New Orleans area. This contract position is designed for educators passionate about engaging students in meaningful science learning and ready to make a lasting impact throughout the academic year. With a full-time schedule from August 2026 to May 2027, you’ll have the chance to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and the love of discovery in your classroom each day.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education Certification (no temporary licenses)
- Ready to work full-time, Monday through Friday (7 hours per day, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch, per the school calendar)
- Previous experience or strong interest in teaching high school science
- Commitment to passing district-required background checks, including drug screening and fingerprinting, as well as additional credentialing steps
- Energetic, innovative, and adaptable approach to student learning
What you’ll do:
- Deliver engaging science lessons aligned with state and district standards
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that inspires student participation and inquiry
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback that encourages growth
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student achievement
- Participate in professional development and school activities as needed
