Our organization is in search of a Board Certified or Board Eligible OB/GYN physician to become a part of our growing OB/GYN Hospitalist team. This unique position emphasizes delivering in-house obstetric and gynecologic care for both assigned and unassigned patients, while also addressing emergencies. The hospitalist will work closely with both our employed and community OB/GYN practitioners to maintain a high standard of care throughout our services.

Our care network comprises 36 OB/GYN specialists, 8 gynecologists, 2 Family Medicine OB physicians, and 16 Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants. We are proud to assist in the delivery of around 4,000 babies annually, with expectations for continued growth as South Carolina ranks among the fastest-growing states in the nation.

The Hospitalist plays a vital role in resident education and ensures that a qualified OB/GYN physician is available on-site during critical hours.

Our hospital system offers access to subspecialty services in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, gynecologic oncology, and urogynecology. Additionally, consultations from other specialties, such as general surgery, urology, and interventional radiology, are readily accessible within our healthcare system.

A full-time OB/GYN Hospitalist is expected to work *** shifts annually, consisting of 12-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, along with full weekend coverage. Daytime call is managed by our community-based OB/GYNs, and the hospitalist is not responsible for office duties or scheduled gynecologic surgeries during the day.

Responsibilities
  • Provide in-house coverage from Monday to Friday and participate in 48-hour weekend shifts on a rotating schedule.
  • Act as the attending physician for unassigned obstetric patients, including emergency deliveries and obstetrical triage evaluations.
  • Address obstetric emergencies promptly.
  • Assess and manage unassigned gynecologic patients arriving through the Emergency Department.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing staff, anesthesia, and on-call physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform necessary procedures, including cesarean sections and gynecologic emergency interventions.
  • Effectively document and communicate patient hand-offs in EPIC to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
  • Possession of a South Carolina Medical License.
