Payroll Specialist LHH Recruitment is working with a company near Scottsdale who is in search of a payroll specialist.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional to manage high-volume, multi-state payroll operations for a workforce of over 1,000 employees. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative accounting and HR team with a stable company that values accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The hourly rate is between $28/hr-$32/hr.

What You'll Do
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple states.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Audit payroll data, including timecards, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee files while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions regarding paychecks, deductions, taxes, PTO, and direct deposits.
  • Process wage garnishments, child support orders, levies, and other payroll deductions.
  • Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and payroll audits.
  • Partner with HR, Accounting, and management to ensure accurate employee and payroll data.
  • Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll for 1,000+ employees is required.
  • UKG experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, garnishments, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with payroll reconciliations and reporting.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and data manipulation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPP certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems and timekeeping platforms.
  • Experience supporting audits and year-end payroll processing.

Pay Details: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour
