Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Sugar Land, TX

Step into a rewarding full-time contract opportunity supporting students in the Houston area as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a school-based setting. With a focus on enhancing student participation and success, you’ll collaborate closely with an Occupational Therapist and serve a diverse caseload, spanning ages 3 to 21. Your expertise will empower young learners, from early childhood to transition-aged youth, to thrive in their educational environments.

In this role, you will:

• Provide direct and consultative OT services in accordance with student IEPs
• Support and assist the supervising OT in maintaining a manageable caseload (approximately 30-40 direct service students, with a total caseload up to 70)
• Travel between 6–7 assigned schools clustered within a specific geographic zone, minimizing commute times
• Conduct evaluations, attend ARDs, and implement best practices in therapy delivery
• Utilize SHARES school health software, Onward software, and Excel logs for clear and accurate documentation
• Adhere to district protocols, including fingerprinting and credentialing processes

Desired experience and qualifications:

• Active TX COTA license required
• Minimum of two years’ experience in schools or pediatric settings, with a strong ability to adapt to diverse student needs
• Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families
• Familiarity with school IEP processes and special education documentation
• Flexibility to work a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week, generally 8:00–4:00 or 7:30–3:30)
• Must be comfortable traveling between multiple school sites
