Job Description
Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher with a full-time contract position for the 2026-2027 school year, serving students in an in-person capacity. The assignment runs from August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027, offering approximately 33.25 hours per week in a vibrant, collaborative educational setting.
Choose from two dynamic classroom environments—Life Skills Self-Contained or Instructional/Resource—where you’ll work closely with students, support staff, and fellow educators.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL) for Illinois (please provide a copy upon application)
- Experience or interest in Special Education, particularly with Life Skills Self-Contained or Instructional/Resource classrooms
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to individualized instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs
- Provide engaging instruction and classroom management to support student learning and independence
- Foster a supportive, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with general classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators to ensure student progress
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement, goals, and accommodations
- Communicate regularly with families and caregivers regarding student progress and strategies for support
