Duration: 12 months
Schedule: 40 hours- Monday-Friday - First Shift 6:00AM-2:30pm
We are seeking an Export Compliance Classification Specialist to join a high-performing team at the intersection of engineering, regulatory compliance, and global trade. This role supports export classification and jurisdiction determinations for a broad portfolio of aerospace technologies, partnering directly with engineering teams to ensure technical data, software, systems, and materials comply with U.S. export control regulations.
This is a highly visible, fast-paced position where priorities shift quickly and decisions have meaningful business impact. Rather than supporting a single program, you will work across the enterprise, collaborating with engineers, legal teams, and global stakeholders on a diverse range of technologies and compliance challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform export classifications and jurisdiction determinations under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Evaluate aerospace technical data, including:
- Engineering drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Software and source code
- Technical specifications
- Engineering systems and documentation
- Partner directly with engineering teams to assess technical content and determine appropriate export classifications.
- Provide clear compliance guidance while balancing regulatory requirements with business objectives.
- Support corporate investigations, audits, and compliance risk assessments.
- Develop, maintain, and improve export classification decision guides and internal compliance processes.
- Collaborate with Global Trade Controls, Legal, and cross-functional stakeholders on complex or high-risk export matters.
- Navigate ambiguity and make sound decisions in a high-volume environment with competing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Experience supporting export compliance programs governed by EAR and ITAR regulations.
- Knowledge of export classification methodologies, including ECCN and USML determinations.
- Ability to analyze complex technical information and apply regulatory requirements appropriately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience partnering with engineering or technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace, defense, aviation, manufacturing, or technology industry experience.
- Experience classifying engineering drawings, software, source code, materials, or technical systems.
- Familiarity with Global Trade Controls programs and compliance investigations.
- Experience developing process improvements, guidance documentation, or training materials.
