Special Education Teacher in Jersey City, NJ
Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Two engaging opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers with a passion for helping students succeed in self-contained classrooms serving kindergarten and 1st–2nd grade. These contract positions begin September 1, 2026, and run through June 25, 2027, offering a full-time schedule for those eager to make a positive impact throughout the academic year.
You’ll support children in self-contained autism classrooms, working primarily with non-verbal students. Discrete Trial Training (DTT) and ABA principles are central to the curriculum, making this a wonderful place to expand your skills and deepen your expertise in evidence-based instruction. While ABA experience is valuable, dedicated educators new to ABA will also be considered.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid New Jersey certification: Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) & Elementary Education (K–6), or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH)
- Experience or strong interest in teaching students with autism or developmental disabilities
- Comfort delivering individualized, evidence-based instruction such as DTT
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Compassion, adaptability, and a supportive approach to classroom management
Responsibilities in these roles:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students using ABA/DTT strategies
- Create and implement individualized programs and behavioral interventions
- Track student progress and prepare reports
- Collaborate with related service providers and classroom paraprofessionals
- Maintain an organized and positive classroom environment focused on growth
Be an advocate for students and experience the fulfillment of shaping young lives in a caring, supportive school setting. If you’re ready to work in a specialized, mission-driven classroom, please submit your resume and certifications today to be considered for an interview!
Compensation for this position ranges from $25.97 to $47.97. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
