POSITION OBJECTIVE:
\n\n
The job of Teacher (K-12) is done for the purpose/s of planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
\n\n
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences \n
- Develop schemes of work and lesson plans \n
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities \n
- Prepare classroom for class activities \n
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities \n
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students’ varying needs \n
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment \n
- Use relevant technology to support instruction \n
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance and development \n
- Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments \n
- Provide appropriate feedback on work \n
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students \n
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development \n
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations \n
- Prepare required reports on students and activities \n
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures \n
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school \n
- Apply appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary \n
- Perform certain pastoral duties but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement \n
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations \n
- Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings \n
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs \n
- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities \n
- Other duties as assigned \n

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution \n
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state \n
- Single subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject \n
- State certification \n
- Relevant teaching experience \n
- Knowledge of relevant technology \n
- SEI Endorsement required \n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
