Accounting Operations Assistant

Salary: $50,000 (No flexibility)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid. Candidates must be comfortable commuting to Neptune, New Jersey office location every Monday during the organization's office renovation period. Mileage and toll reimbursements are provided. Following renovations, the role will transition to a more traditional office schedule.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Operations Assistant to join a stable and mission-driven organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys hands-on accounting support responsibilities and is looking for a long-term career home within a collaborative team environment.

This role supports the accounting department with daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, data entry, documentation management, and general accounting support. The ideal candidate will be dependable, accurate, and comfortable working with routine accounting processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable invoices, expenses, and payments
  • Record accounts receivable transactions and maintain accurate billing records
  • Prepare deposits and maintain supporting financial documentation
  • Assist with employee reimbursements and related accounting transactions
  • Maintain organized financial files and records
  • Perform data entry and account reconciliations as needed
  • Support the accounting team with special projects and administrative tasks
  • Communicate with internal departments and external stakeholders regarding financial matters
  • Assist with maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or accounting support experience
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Solid Microsoft Excel skills
  • Comfortable working with accounting software and financial systems
  • Ability to work independently and learn new processes quickly
  • Prior experience with AP, AR, data entry, and general accounting functions
  • Seeking a stable, long-term opportunity rather than a short-term stepping stone
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems
  • Exposure to nonprofit, professional services, or multi-entity accounting environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
