Join a well-established clinical laboratory as a Laboratory Assistant and become a vital part of a team dedicated to accurate and efficient laboratory testing. Sort and receive specimens within the laboratory department.
Perform routine instrument maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Handle laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data including temperature charts, and managing specimen storage and retrieval.
Prepare reagents and media needed for testing procedures.
Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, verifying specimens for clots and fibrin, inoculating samples, and preparing slides.
Perform quality assurance and quality control duties as assigned.
Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples efficiently.
Decontaminate work areas regularly and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
Maintain accurate department records and files.
Change gas cylinders and dispose of biohazardous materials following safety protocols.
Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs as needed.
Keep work areas clean and organized, supporting laboratory efficiency and safety.
Required Skills
Ability to establish work priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and ability to retain information once learned.
Effective communication skills to interact courteously with coworkers, internal teams, and external customers.
Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
Proficiency in using laboratory computer systems and handling biohazardous materials.
Additional Skills & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant training is helpful.
Math and science courses are preferred to support laboratory tasks.
No previous work experience required; this is an excellent entry-level opportunity.
Ability to work effectively in a team and follow safety procedures diligently.
