Special Education Teacher in Chicopee, MA

Bring your expertise in special education to a dynamic school environment, supporting middle school students by guiding the special education process and ensuring every student receives the resources they need to succeed. As an on-site Evaluation Team Leader, you will collaborate with staff, families, and agencies to champion effective learning and growth for students in grades 6–8, working closely with dedicated professionals throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws and guidelines, reporting to the Chief of Exceptional Learning and local building principals
• Oversee and coordinate all procedural aspects required by Massachusetts special education regulations (M.G.L. 71B, 603 CMR 28.00)
• Serve as the primary point of contact for families, teachers, administrators, and community organizations to build strong support networks for students
• Prepare finalized Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for a designated caseload, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and regulatory adherence
• Participate in required professional development sessions for current best practices and policy updates

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution
• Massachusetts Teacher license for Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred; DESE licensure or other relevant certifications will be considered
• At least three years of successful experience in public school settings
• Professional coursework in special education, counseling, guidance, or psychology
• Demonstrated ability to connect with and advocate for students and families from diverse backgrounds
• Compassion for students’ individual needs and a collaborative spirit
