Job Description
We are seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join a busy and growing law firm. This hybrid opportunity is ideal for an attorney with workers' compensation defense experience who can independently manage a high-volume caseload while representing employers and insurance carriers through all stages of litigation.
Responsibilities
Manage workers' compensation defense matters from inception through resolution.
Represent clients at hearings, depositions, settlement conferences, and trials.
Develop litigation strategies and evaluate claims throughout the life of each case.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, and the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
Draft pleadings, motions, legal correspondence, and other litigation-related documents.
Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
Independently manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced legal environment.
Meet monthly billable hour requirements while maintaining high-quality legal representation.
Travel as needed for hearings and other litigation proceedings.
Qualifications
Active membership in good standing with the California Bar.
2+ years of workers' compensation defense experience preferred (1 year may be considered for strong candidates).
Experience handling hearings, depositions, and workers' compensation litigation matters.
Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
Ability to independently manage multiple active cases and deadlines.
Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship management skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
