Junior Electrical Estimator
Job Description
We are seeking a Junior Electrical Estimator to join a growing construction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and supporting the bidding process for electrical and infrastructure-related projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in construction estimating.
Key Responsibilities
Review project drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop accurate cost estimates
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for labor, materials, and equipment
Analyze project requirements and identify cost factors impacting overall estimates
Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
Develop competitive bid strategies and evaluate alternative construction methods
Validate estimates using historical cost data and internal benchmarks
Identify and communicate project risks, assumptions, and opportunities
Collaborate with internal teams during pre-construction and project handoff
Maintain organized documentation and cost databases for future reference
Participate in bid reviews and support continuous improvement of estimating processes
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technical experience
2-5 years of estimating, construction, or engineering experience
Experience in electrical and/or underground construction is highly preferred
Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and take-off processes
Technical Skills
Experience with estimating software (Accubid, Bid2Win, or similar tools preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional site visits as required
May require limited travel (up to 10%)
Flexibility to work extended hours when needed to meet project deadlines
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and work on a computer for extended periods
Occasional lifting of materials up to 20-50 lbs
Ability to review documents and drawings in both digital and physical formats
