Special Education Teacher in Westfield, MA

Shape the future of special education in Springfield, MA by stepping into a pivotal onsite role as an Evaluation Team Leader (ETL) for the 2026/2027 academic year. Support middle school students across grades 6–8 while ensuring full compliance with federal and state regulations. In this full-time, school-year contract, you’ll empower students, families, and educators through expert collaboration and strong leadership within the special education process.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with M.G.L. 71B and 603 CMR 28.00 Special Education Regulations, reporting to the Chief of Exceptional Learning and building principals.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and lead all aspects of the special education process for assigned caseloads.
• Serve as a key liaison among parents, families, staff, and community agencies to promote high-quality, individualized support for students.
• Prepare and finalize all Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with district and regulatory guidelines.
• Participate in ongoing professional development sessions provided by the Bureau of Pupil Services.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a closely related field.
• Massachusetts Special Education Teacher certification (students with Moderate Disabilities), or DESE certification/licensure in another educational area.
• A minimum of three years’ successful public school experience, particularly in special education, guidance, counseling, or psychology.
• Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with students and adults from diverse backgrounds.
• Deep commitment to meeting the unique needs of students with disabilities through empathetic collaboration.

Additional Requirements:

• Submission of full name, resume, and proof of active Massachusetts license.
• Ability to pass fingerprinting, background/CORI, and drug screening checks.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to complete any necessary onboarding promptly.
