Job Description
Make a meaningful difference by providing communication access to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing in an elementary school setting. This full-time opportunity allows you to work closely with young learners and educational staff, supporting one student at a time for more personalized, impactful engagement.
This contract role runs from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. You'll have a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, working from 7:00am to 2:30pm, totaling 35 hours each week. As an onsite-only position, your daily presence ensures reliable, in-person support for your assigned student.
Qualifications:
- Active licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher required; candidates with RID certification also considered, regardless of EIPA status
- Prior experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
- Strong commitment to punctuality, with ability to arrive before student arrival each day
- Flexibility, patience, and a collaborative approach to supporting elementary-aged children
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between student and educational staff
- Interpret classroom lessons, activities, and school events
- Prepare for and remain onsite throughout scheduled school hours
- Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment for your assigned student
- Collaborate with teachers and support teams to help students access the full curriculum
