Assistant Controller-Daytona Beach

Our client in Daytona Beach is seeking a contract to hire (also open to direct hire) hands-on Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations, manage the financial close process, and drive process improvements within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. This hybrid role partners closely with senior leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Close & Reporting

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
• Oversee journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
• Improve close timelines while maintaining accuracy

Accounting Operations

• Manage general ledger activity across multiple entities
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
• Review complex transactions and strengthen internal controls
• Oversee cash management and treasury activities

Audit & Compliance

• Act as primary contact for external audits
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
• Support audit requests, filings, and compliance requirements

Process Improvement

• Identify inefficiencies and implement scalable processes
• Drive automation and system improvements
• Support ERP enhancements and process redesign initiatives

Qualifications

Required:

• Active CPA in Florida
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge
• Multi-entity and multi-state experience
• Advanced Excel skills

Preferred:

• Public accounting background
• Private equity experience
• M&A, integrations, or consolidations exposure
• NetSuite experience

Salary range:
$130-150K
