Applicants wishing to apply should meet the following minimum requirements:
Must have high school education or its equivalent and three to five years' experience in electric distribution service/construction work, or an appropriate combination of education, training and experience. Must have a valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class A with air/power break certification). Must possess general knowledge of electrical and National Electric Safety, RUS Construction, and OSHA Safety Code, hotline conversion and maintenance techniques. Must be able to read and interpret staking sheets/work orders in connection with constructing new services or retiring old ones. Must be able to determine amount of wire needed, and load wire, poles, transformers, and other needed materials/equipment onto vehicles. Must be able to install and change-out instrument transformers, T-Brackets, install metering, bank transformers, oil circuit reclosers, capacitors, voltage regulators, security lights, and other distribution line equipment on both energized and de-energized lines, for both overhead/underground, primary/secondary construction and related equipment, under direction of supervision. Must be willing to live in and/or relocate to the service area in which this position is available.
Applicant must be willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends in emergency situations or as required; must be willing to participate in special training program as requested.
Applicant must also pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
