A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed for the upcoming school year, working on site in a supportive educational environment near Waukegan, IL. This contract spans August 17, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with in-person hours averaging 33.25 per week.

Available roles include:

  • Life Skills Self-Contained
  • Instructional/Resource

Ideal qualifications:

  • Current and active Professional Educator License (PEL), with the ability to provide proof at the time of application
  • Experience working with students in self-contained or resource classroom settings, supporting a range of academic and functional needs
  • Strong collaboration skills with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Ability to adapt instruction, create individualized learning plans, and implement IEPs
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction aligned with student IEPs
  • Modify curriculum and accommodations to support student learning and independence
  • Collaborate with related service providers, general educators, and families to best meet each child's needs
  • Monitor and document student progress, communicate effectively in meetings and written reports
  • Foster an encouraging, structured, and respectful classroom atmosphere
