Two enthusiastic special education teachers are needed to join a vibrant middle school environment supporting students in grades 6, 7, and 8 for the 2024-2025 academic year. This contract position offers the chance to collaborate in a co-taught, inclusive classroom setting and play a vital role in student development.
Key Details:
- Full-time schedule (37.5–40 hours/week), Monday–Friday, 7:45 am–3:45 pm.
- Contract runs August 5th, 2024, through May 21st, 2025 (including pre-planning and training the week prior).
- Position #1: Teach and support 6th grade in co-taught Math and Science classes, with a caseload of 10–12 students.
- Position #2: Teach and support 7th/8th grade in co-taught ELA and Science classes, with a caseload of 10–12 students.
- Students served may have eligibility for services based on Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, or EBD; some students may have behavior plans but significant behavioral needs are not typical for these settings.
- No diapering or toileting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Valid and active GaPSC Special Education Consultative P–12 Teaching Endorsement required.
- Experience with middle school students and co-teaching preferred.
- Strong commitment to inclusive education and effective collaboration with general education partners.
- Ability to develop and maintain supportive learning environments for students transitioning into and navigating middle school.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver instructional accommodations and modifications alongside content area teachers.
- Monitor student progress and document interventions.
- Implement individualized education plans and behavior plans as needed.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and IEP meetings.
