Optomechanical Engineer

Job Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and develop custom precision optomechanical components and assemblies.

  • Create modular mechanical platforms and infrastructure for complex engineering systems.

  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional engineering teams to define design requirements, project timelines, and system integration needs.

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs from concept through prototyping and production.

  • Build, assemble, test, and validate mechanical systems and prototypes.

  • Produce 2D mechanical drawings with appropriate tolerances and manufacturing specifications.

  • Apply finite element analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize mechanical designs.

  • Design components with manufacturability and scalability in mind using Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.

  • Support system integration, mechanical alignment, and hardware validation activities.

  • Contribute to the development of scalable engineering solutions for advanced technology platforms.

Qualifications and Certifications
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optomechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • Experience with CAD software for mechanical design.

  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

  • Experience creating 2D mechanical drawings and applying geometric tolerancing principles.

  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

  • Basic familiarity with optical systems and optomechanical components.

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, construction, and alignment.

  • Strong problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of quantum physics is not required.
