LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a respected East Bay organization seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys a combination of financial reporting, operational accounting, process improvement, and team leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring strong general ledger experience, month-end close expertise, accounts payable oversight, and a hands-on approach to managing multiple accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
Position Overview
The Accounting Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close activities, and accounts payable functions. This individual will partner closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial records, maintain compliance with accounting standards, support audits, and drive process improvements across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Financial & Corporate Accounting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports
- Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Monitor cash activity and perform bank reconciliations
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support external audits and prepare required schedules
- Analyze financial data and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and organizational policies
- Oversee day-to-day accounts payable operations
- Review invoice coding and documentation for accuracy
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments
- Support expense reimbursement and corporate card programs
- Assist with vendor inquiries and payment discrepancies
- Manage electronic invoice workflows and approval processes
- Supervise AP staff and provide training and support
- Coordinate year-end reporting requirements, including 1099 preparation and reconciliation
- Review and resolve reporting discrepancies
- Assist with tax-related reporting activities
- Prepare recurring financial and operational reports for leadership
- Evaluate accounting workflows and recommend efficiencies
- Maintain accounting procedures and documentation
- Partner with leadership on finance-related initiatives and projects
- Support cross-functional departments with financial reporting needs
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience needed
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience with month-end and year-end close processes
- Advanced account reconciliation and general ledger skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with ERP systems such as Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar accounting software
- Experience with Concur or other expense management platforms
- Experience utilizing financial reporting and management reporting tools
- Background in nonprofit, healthcare, insurance, professional services, membership-based organizations, or other complex accounting environments preferred
- Experience supporting organizations with multiple entities, departments, or reporting structures
- Strong understanding of financial compliance, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives
