Special Education Teacher - Tempe, Arizona

As the lead teacher in a medically fragile self-contained classroom, you will provide vital instruction and guidance to a small group of students and collaborate closely with a dedicated team of three classroom assistants. The expected caseload involves working with seven students, allowing for impactful individualized attention and the chance to make significant progress throughout the school year.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification
• Experience with moderate/severe student populations preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of working with medically fragile children
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities

Responsibilities:

• Deliver differentiated instruction aligned with student abilities and needs
• Develop and update IEPs in cooperation with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Supervise classroom assistants and ensure a safe, engaging learning environment
• Monitor and track student progress towards academic and developmental goals
• Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies based on student feedback and outcomes
• Foster a compassionate, respectful classroom culture sensitive to each student’s medical and educational requirements
