Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in middle school education as a Special Education Teacher, leading a self-contained classroom and primarily teaching math. This contract position offers the chance to work with an engaged group of students, helping each child reach their full potential in a supportive school environment. Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Current LBS1 Certification required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or related field
- Previous experience teaching in a special education setting, preferably middle school
- Strong knowledge of math instructional strategies for diverse learners
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to develop and modify IEPs to meet individual student needs
- Collaborative team player with a positive, proactive approach
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, stimulating learning atmosphere
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver math instruction to students in a self-contained classroom, focusing on individualized supports
- Design, implement, and evaluate lesson plans to address a range of learning abilities
- Develop and manage IEPs, tracking student progress and updating goals as needed
- Foster a caring environment that supports each student’s social, emotional, and academic growth
- Collaborate with fellow educators, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success
- Participate in team meetings, staff development opportunities, and school events
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on student progress and classroom activities
