Preferred Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Valid and active Professional Educator License (PEL)
- Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or a similar setting is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, families, and staff
- Ability to manage confidential student health information with discretion and professionalism
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care and health assessments to students, addressing a wide range of health and safety needs
- Administer medications and medical treatments as prescribed, monitoring students for any side effects or changes in their condition
- Develop and implement plans of care for students with acute and chronic conditions, including coordinating with parents and healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation following school and state guidelines
- Respond to medical emergencies, providing appropriate interventions and referrals as needed
- Educate students and staff about health practices, nutrition, and preventative care
- Participate in the development and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans where health services are involved
