Job Description
Tax Manager helps drive the success of tax engagements, ensuring high-quality service for our clients. Reporting to the Tax Director, this role manages all aspects of tax compliance, planning, and consulting. The Tax Manager leads a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and development to deliver accurate, efficient, and client-focused results.
\nDuties and responsibilities
\nAs a BELAY Manager, you will professionally represent the company in all virtual and in-person interactions. You are expected to exemplify our mission, vision, and core values daily, fostering a collaborative and positive team environment.
\nTeam Management & Support
\nSupervise and support a team of tax professionals, including senior associates and staff accountants, under the guidance of the Tax Director
\nManage workloads to ensure team members meet deadlines and deliver accurate work
\nConduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for professional development
\nMentorship, Coaching, & Training
\nDevelop and implement training programs to strengthen the technical skills and knowledge of the tax team
\nServe as a mentor and coach, offering career guidance and support to team members
\nStay current on tax laws and industry trends, ensuring the team is informed and trained accordingly
\nClient Service & Relationship Management
\nAssist in managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely delivery of tax compliance, planning, and consulting services
\nBuild and maintain strong client relationships, understanding unique needs and providing tailored tax solutions
\nCollaborate with the Tax Director to identify and pursue opportunities for additional services and business growth with existing clients
\nTax Compliance & Technical Expertise
\nReview and assist in the preparation of complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and tax-exempt organizations
\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, identifying opportunities for tax savings and mitigating risks
\nProvide technical expertise and support on complex tax issues and transactions
\nProcess Improvement & Efficiency
\nIdentify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of tax compliance and reporting
\nLeverage technology and tools to streamline tax workflows and reduce manual processes
\nCollaborate with other departments to ensure integrated service delivery and client satisfaction
\nQualifications
\nThis role requires a motivated and trustworthy self-starter with strong communication and technological skills, who thrives independently and as part of a team, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done! Our ideal manager is flexible, creative, well-organized and will conduct relational and efficient coaching at all times.
\nBachelor's degree in accounting, business, economics, and/or finance
\nCertified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required
\n7+ years of related experience, with client services
\nAt least one year in a managerial role overseeing staff and 2-3 years of tax return review experience including but not limited to PTEs, C-Corporations, Individuals, Trusts, and Not-for-Profit Entities
\nExperience with multi-state entities and foreign owned U.S. based entities
\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills
\nTax research experience, strong knowledge of the tax code, and proactive problem-solving skills
\nStrong leadership and interpersonal skills.
\nPreferred but not required:
\nExperience with small business and startup companies
\nExperience with Thomson Reuters Ultratax
\nExperience with Quickbooks Online
