Job Description
A contract opportunity awaits an experienced Special Education Teacher eager to make a meaningful impact in an elementary school setting. This full-time resource teaching role serves students in kindergarten through 4th grade, focusing on those with Behavioral (BEH) and Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) in Math and Reading. You will work with a manageable caseload of around 15 students, helping them grow academically and socially in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification
- Experience with elementary-age students (K-4th grade), particularly those with behavioral and learning disabilities
- Strong instructional skills in differentiated Math and Reading approaches
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Flexibility, patience, and a collaborative attitude
- Excellent communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction in Math and Reading to small groups and individual students
- Develop, adapt, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- Track student progress and communicate updates to families and staff
- Foster a positive classroom environment for students with diverse learning needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure student success
- Engage in team meetings, IEP reviews, and ongoing professional development
