School Nurse

Location: Holland Elementary School
Classification: Part-Time
Reports To: Building Principal and/or Head Nurse

Position Summary

The School Nurse supports the health, safety, and well-being of students and staff by providing nursing care, responding to illnesses and injuries, administering medications, and maintaining required health records. The primary assignment will be Holland Elementary School, with the potential to provide nursing coverage at other district schools as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and first aid to students and staff.
\n
• Assess illnesses and injuries and determine appropriate care, including parent/guardian notification or emergency response.
\n
• Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, district policy, and applicable regulations.
\n
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health and medication records.
\n
• Support students with chronic or complex health conditions and assist with individualized health and emergency plans.
\n
• Assist with required health screenings, immunization compliance, and communicable disease management.
\n
• Communicate with parents/guardians, staff, and healthcare providers regarding student health needs.
\n
• Maintain health office supplies and emergency medical equipment.
\n
• Provide nursing coverage at other district schools as assigned or needed.
\n
• Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
\n

Qualifications

\n
• Current and valid nursing license in the State of Indiana.
\n
• Registered Nurse (RN) preferred; Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) may be considered.
\n
• Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain upon employment.
\n
• Experience working with children or in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
\n
• Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
\n
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and respond effectively in emergency situations.
\n
• Ability and willingness to travel between district school buildings as needed.
\n

Work Schedule

This is a part-time position primarily assigned to Holland Elementary School. The specific schedule will be determined based on district needs, with the potential to provide coverage at other district schools as needed.
