Job Description
Inspire and support students’ growth by making a difference as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. Multiple contract opportunities are available for dedicated professionals passionate about special education, each assigned to one elementary school for the full academic year. These roles are located in both Westminster and Thornton, Colorado, providing flexible placements based on your strengths and experience.
What we’re seeking:
- Valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement required.
- Experience working with students with mild, moderate, or severe cognitive and behavioral disabilities.
- Familiarity with CPI, de-escalation strategies, ABA principles, and autism interventions.
- Self-contained classroom and/or station-based teaching experience is advantageous.
- Comfort leading a small team of paraprofessionals for more intensive support settings.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with service providers (speech/OT/psych) and school administration.
- Ability to complete district-specific credentialing and documentation efficiently before the assignment start date.
Your responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction in a full-time capacity for assigned caseload—ranging from learning support to affective/structured learning services.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Foster a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate closely with fellow educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals to maximize student potential.
- Employ evidence-based behavioral and instructional strategies.
- Communicate regularly with parents, team members, and administrators to ensure student progress.
