Job Description
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students who benefit from highly structured, individualized programming within a Life Skills Education - Intensive Services Program for the 2026-27 academic year. This role offers the chance to lead a classroom of just one to two students, partnering closely with dedicated staff to create a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment.
Responsibilities for this position include delivering direct instruction, developing specialized curriculum, and implementing behavioral interventions tailored to each student's unique intellectual, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. You will serve as the classroom leader, collaborating closely with families, educational specialists, and other professionals to craft strategies that foster growth for students requiring intensive supports. Leading a classroom always staffed by at least two trained adults, you will coordinate programming, manage behavioral supports, supervise support staff, and ensure consistent communication between the school and families.
The ideal candidate brings experience working with students with intellectual disabilities—particularly those with intensive communication, adaptive, or mental health needs—in a self-contained or specialized setting. Experience with behavioral intervention planning, adaptive curriculum development, and collaborative teamwork is highly desirable. Your ability to provide structure, implement data-driven interventions, and remain calm under pressure will support exceptional student outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher licensure
- Prior experience with Life Skills or Intensive Support programs
- Strong background in behavior management and collaborative problem-solving
- Experience supervising and training support staff
- Skilled at family engagement and multidisciplinary team collaboration
