Maintenance Technician Specialist
We're seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician Specialist to join our team and play a key role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and mentoring fellow technicians. Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems throughout the facility.
- Serve as a technical resource for advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis (RCA), and systematic fault isolation.
- Perform precision maintenance activities, including laser alignment, torque-to-specification procedures, and advanced lubrication practices.
- Lead preventive, corrective, and condition-based maintenance efforts to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Apply TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) methodologies to improve equipment reliability, reduce chronic losses, and enhance MTBF and MTTR metrics.
- Utilize the CMMS system to accurately document labor and parts usage, maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), and improve maintenance job plans.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards while protecting product quality and food safety.
- Maintain the integrity of Critical Control Points (CCPs) and support hygienic equipment design during repairs and modifications.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to effectively manage downtime and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior maintenance technicians by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor activities as needed.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by adhering to LOTO procedures, PPE requirements, and all facility safety standards.
Qualifications
- Strong ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
- Proven troubleshooting skills involving VFDs, sensors, pumps, conveyors, and other industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of PLC systems with the ability to perform fault-finding, troubleshoot I/O issues, and interpret alarms (programming experience not required).
- Experience utilizing a CMMS system with a strong track record of accurate documentation and work order management.
- Solid understanding of sanitary design principles, allergen control practices, and OSHA safety standards.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and work effectively across departments.
