Responsibilities

Draw blood samples from patients safely and efficiently, including pediatric and geriatric populations

Follow established procedures to prepare specimens for laboratory testing

Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient

Maintain accurate records and documentation of all specimen collection activities

Create a trusting environment by explaining procedures clearly to patients

Ensure a safe and professional environment for patients and staff

Perform specimen collection in various settings such as clinics, patient service centers, or in-office locations

Exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established protocols

Promote a positive image of the facility through professional conduct and customer service excellence

Required Skills

Proven phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation

Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license if commuting between locations

Keyboard and data entry experience

Additional Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington

1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections

Experience in a patient service center environment is highly preferred

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed

Reliable transportation and a clean driving record if required for travel between multiple locations

Functional in a high-volume setting with multiple priorities
