Assistant Field Supervisor - Industrial construction / Mechanical installation projects
Job Description
The company is a general contractor providing mechanical, rigging, and electrical construction services to the industrial market. This includes planning, consulting, and installation in all states nationwide. The company's construction experience includes a broad range of industrial projects, including automotive manufacturing, textile, plant relocation, equipment installation, direct & indirect process utility installation, and ground-up manufacturing plant construction. The company recently expanded into new battery technology and chemical plants to support the growing electric vehicle market.
Project: Installation of production equipment at the manufacturing facility
Installation Supervisor supports the Area Supervisor and Area Manager in overseeing field construction activities for industrial projects. This role is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, monitoring site operations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, tracking project progress, and helping deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The position requires a hands-on presence at the project site and frequent interaction with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesPreconstructionAssist with project planning, scheduling, and budget preparation.
Review project estimates and support cost control activities.
Coordinate subcontractors and vendors for project mobilization.
Assist in setting up project site offices, utilities, permits, and other startup requirements.
Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
Monitor subcontractor work to ensure compliance with quality standards and project specifications.
Coordinate field activities between subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
Ensure materials are properly inspected and tested, with all documentation maintained.
Participate in daily and weekly progress meetings and communicate project updates.
Promote and enforce OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
Conduct routine site safety inspections and safety walkthroughs with owners, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Support quality control initiatives to ensure work meets customer and project requirements.
Maintain a safe, organized, and respectful work environment.
Track project schedules, progress reports, daily logs, and cost updates.
Assist with project close-out activities, including documentation, demobilization, and final project turnover.
Support the Area Manager with reporting, scheduling, and coordination of field operations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Coordinate communication between U.S. customers and Japanese battery equipment manufacturers to bridge cultural and communication gaps.
Represent the company professionally while supporting successful project execution.
Associate's degree or higher in Construction Management, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial construction, manufacturing, mechanical installation, or related industries.
Experience with industrial plant construction, factory construction, or equipment installation preferred.
Knowledge of construction contracts, field operations, scheduling, and project coordination.
Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards and construction best practices.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and project reporting.
Experience preparing daily logs, progress reports, and construction documentation.
Experience working with Japanese companies or Japanese language skills is a plus.
Site-based position at an active industrial construction project.
PPE is required while on-site.
Extended work hours may be required based on project demands.
Candidates should be open to future relocation to other project locations as business needs require.
