Special Education Teacher | Amherst, Massachusetts

Take on a pivotal role coordinating special education services as an Evaluation Team Leader for the 2026–2027 school year, supporting middle school students in a dynamic district near Amherst, MA. As an onsite leader, you will ensure regulatory compliance and foster collaborative relationships among educators, families, and community partners. Full-time contract positions (three available) start in August 2026 and run through June 2027, with hours typically from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Key Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college/university
• Massachusetts certification as a Special Education Teacher for Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred (DESE certification or other relevant licensure may be considered)
• A minimum of three years of successful experience in a public school setting
• Substantive coursework or professional study in special education, counseling, guidance, or psychology
• Ability to foster trust and effective communication with children and adults in a multicultural environment
• Empathetic approach to supporting the needs of students and families
• Must pass drug screening, fingerprinting, and background/CORI check

Core Responsibilities:

• Ensure full adherence to federal and state regulations overseeing special education (M.G.L. 71B and 603 CMR 28.00)
• Coordinate and facilitate special education services, acting as a primary liaison among stakeholders
• Prepare and finalize all Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for your assigned caseload
• Attend professional development sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices and compliance
• Collaborate with administrative and support staff to deliver effective student services
