LHH is searching for an Accounting Manager for a top Nonprofit organization based in Chicago. Preferably, the selected candidate will have eight years of hands-on Accounting Management experience with a mid-sized nonprofit organization. Responsibilities include ensuring financial activities and procedures are compliant with GAAP and leading the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process/deadlines. The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable:
- Responsible for the preparation of financial statements
- Develop, direct and plan current accounting policies and procedures including cost and general accounting
- Manage month-end and year-end close process
- Prepare and approve journal entries and intercompany transactions
- Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules and worksheets
- Develop regular and ad hoc financial analysis as requested for internal management
- Assist in tax and regulatory reporting and requirements
- Recommend more efficient procedures when necessary
- Apply sound professional judgment on details of work
- Implement the strategic plan for the overall direction of accounting process
- Analyze and communicate business performance
- Bachelors of Science in Accounting or Finance
- Eight years or more of experience in Accounting/Finance
- Strong Microsoft Excel Skills
- CPA is strongly preferred
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures of Accounting
- Strong Leadership abilities
- Exceptional communication skills
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects at one time
