Job Description
Support K-12 students in York County as an onsite Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) through a rewarding contract opportunity. You’ll play a vital role supporting students across several districts, ensuring access to quality education tailored to their unique needs. As an itinerant educator, you’ll have the chance to collaborate directly with district staff and bring your expertise to multiple campuses.
Key Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) is required
- Experience supporting K-12 students in both individual and group instructional settings
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and modern teaching strategies for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Ability to travel within York County as part of a dynamic, itinerant team
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and adaptive strategies for students who are visually impaired, focusing on academic and functional skills
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, administrators, and families to ensure accommodations and modifications are in place
- Assess students’ needs and progress, keeping thorough documentation and contributing to IEP meetings
- Offer guidance and training for district staff on best practices and current resources for supporting visually impaired learners
- Maintain flexible scheduling within the contract year, traveling between multiple school campuses
