This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for a certified Teacher for the Visually Impaired who values collaboration, independence, and innovation, and is comfortable with teletherapy approaches. The assignment runs from August 3, 2026, through May 27, 2027, following a Monday–Friday schedule in alignment with the school calendar.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree and certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired; active Louisiana DOE certification and licensure in your home state required
• At least three years of experience in elementary, secondary, or special education settings
• Robust skill set in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and (preferably) orientation and mobility training
• Background in teletherapy within school environments
• Mastery of instructional practices for visually impaired students and familiarity with current Louisiana school best practices
• Strong analytical and communication abilities, with a record of professionalism and adaptability
• Liability insurance required (1099 role)
• Successful completion of drug screening and fingerprinting per district guidelines
• Passing score on technology screening required
• One recent professional reference

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate appropriate services for students with visual impairments, advocating for their unique needs
• Support general education staff via targeted in-service training
• Select and adapt textbooks and instructional materials for accessibility
• Consistently coordinate with classroom teachers to prepare reading resources in suitable formats
• Deliver direct, individualized services to students
• Maintain effective communication with the Louisiana Department of Education
• Adapt to additional assignments supporting program goals as outlined by leadership
