Patient Account Representative
Job Description
Location: Oak Brook, IL
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (Onsite)
Pay: $25-$28/hour
A growing multi-specialty physician organization is seeking an experienced Medical Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its Revenue Cycle team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys researching claims, resolving denials, and working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage outstanding insurance accounts receivable to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Research and follow up on unpaid, denied, and underpaid claims.
- Contact insurance carriers to obtain claim status and resolve payment discrepancies.
- Review aging reports and prioritize outstanding accounts for follow-up.
- Submit corrected claims and supporting documentation as needed.
- Monitor claims through payer portals and identify claim edits, rejections, and denials.
- Prepare and submit insurance appeals within payer filing deadlines.
- Document all account activity accurately within the billing system.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance while handling protected health information.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve collections and maximize reimbursement.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of medical billing or insurance follow-up experience.
- Experience working in a large physician practice (50+ providers) preferred.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload of 200+ claims per week.
- Strong understanding of insurance billing, claims follow-up, denials, and third-party reimbursement.
- Experience with payer portals and insurance carrier communication.
- AdvancedMD experience is strongly preferred.
- Texas insurance experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
