Job Description
Two full-time opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers with a passion for supporting young learners. These contract roles offer the chance to work in self-contained autism classrooms, focusing on Kindergarten and 1st–2nd grade students during the 2026-2027 academic year.
As an integral part of a specialized team, you’ll facilitate learning for primarily non-verbal students using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodologies, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT). Your expertise and compassion will make an immediate impact during this rewarding assignment.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey certification: either Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and Elementary Education (K–6), or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH).
- Experience supporting students with autism or other developmental challenges is welcomed.
- Familiarity with ABA strategies, especially Discrete Trial Training, is a plus, though not required.
- Flexibility, patience, and a collaborative spirit in working with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction in a self-contained classroom for Kindergarten or 1st–2nd grade students with autism.
- Implement lesson plans, collect data, and adjust strategies using ABA techniques.
- Collaborate closely with related service providers and team members to achieve student goals.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment tailored to diverse needs.
- Engage in ongoing communication with families and participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed.
