Hospital Retail Staff Pharmacist in Zachary, LA
Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Medication Therapy Management (MTM) pharmacist role is available for a 13-week contract-to-hire assignment. This position supports specialty MTM services and requires either onsite or remote work while holding a current Louisiana pharmacist license and multiple additional state licenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately per physician orders following established protocols.
- Interpret verbal and written prescriptions; accurately update computerized patient medication profiles.
- Maintain thorough and precise pharmacy patient medication records.
- Dispense pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, while adhering to legal requirements.
- Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of treatment.
- Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly.
- Provide clinical consultations, offering cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
- Document all clinical activities and interventions comprehensively.
- Participate actively in quality improvement, medication use reviews, and departmental inspections.
- Supervise pharmacy support personnel and verify technician activities.
- Ensure timely pharmacy service delivery through effective organization and prioritization.
- Perform medication storage area inspections and manage outdated drug replacement.
- Communicate professionally in person and via telephone.
Qualifications:
- Current pharmacist license in Louisiana is mandatory.
- Must hold or obtain licenses in at least five additional states from the following list: Alaska, Arkansas, California, District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming.
- Prior experience in retail or hospital pharmacy settings.
- Commitment to obtaining a minimum of 10 additional state licenses (beyond Louisiana) within 18 months.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a specialty MTM environment.
