Empower young learners and make a difference in a supportive educational environment as a Special Education Teacher working with elementary and middle school students. Located near Morganton, NC, this contract position offers the opportunity to work in close-knit classrooms with robust support staff, ensuring every child receives individualized attention and care.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid credentials or licensure in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs, especially in a classroom setting
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with paraprofessionals and related service providers
  • Comfort with providing toileting assistance; experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, especially in relation to medical and behavioral needs
  • Adaptability and a commitment to inclusive education

Role Responsibilities:

Elementary Classroom:

  • Teach and manage a classroom of 6 students with mild behavioral needs
  • Provide toileting assistance as needed; no feeding required
  • Benefit from support provided by a Teaching Assistant and a Behavior Technician
  • Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to foster academic and personal growth

Middle School Classroom:

  • Lead instruction for 11 students, with varying needs
  • Assist students requiring toileting support; one student is G-tube fed (feeding tube experience helpful but not required)
  • Work alongside a team that includes a fellow teacher, three full-time Teaching Assistants, and a dedicated 1:1 aide
  • Ensure the well-being, safety, and engagement of all students
