Job Description
Step into a pivotal role supporting young learners as an ABA-focused Special Education Teacher in northern New Jersey, conveniently located near Paterson. Passionate educators are needed for full-time positions working with Kindergarten and 1st–2nd grade students in self-contained Autism classrooms. These classrooms focus on individualized instruction, primarily serving non-verbal students and utilizing Discrete Trial Training (DTT) as a core teaching approach.
Openings are available for both ABA Kindergarten Special Education Teachers and ABA 1st–2nd Grade Special Education Teachers for the 2026–2027 academic year, from September 1, 2026, through June 25, 2027.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) and Elementary Education (K–6) certification, or Teacher of the Handicapped (TOH) certification.
- Previous experience in ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), especially in early childhood or elementary settings, is valued but not mandatory—comprehensive support and training are provided.
- Experience working in self-contained classrooms or with students who are primarily non-verbal is a plus.
- Strong commitment to individualized, data-driven instruction and collaboration with paraprofessionals and related services staff.
- Excellent communication skills, flexibility, and a positive, resourceful attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction using DTT and ABA strategies to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Collect, analyze, and report student data to inform instruction and monitor progress.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with a multidisciplinary team.
- Foster a supportive, structured, and compassionate learning environment for all students.
- Engage families and caregivers to support student growth both at school and at home.
