Are you an experienced Field Service Technician, Millwright, Industrial Maintenance Technician, or CNC Service Technician looking for a long-term opportunity with a global leader in advanced manufacturing?

We're seeking a Resident Field Service Technician to become the primary technical expert supporting advanced CNC machine tools at a major aerospace manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon. This position offers the stability of working primarily at one customer location while providing hands-on troubleshooting, machine installations, commissioning, preventative maintenance, and technical support for world-class manufacturing equipment.

Unlike many field service positions, this role requires only 10–20% travel, allowing you to build strong customer relationships while enjoying greater work-life balance.

What You'll Do

\n
    \n
  • Troubleshoot and repair advanced CNC machine tools
  • \n
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo, and control system issues
  • \n
  • Install, commission, relocate, and retrofit large manufacturing equipment
  • \n
  • Perform machine leveling, alignment, calibration, and geometry verification
  • \n
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and machine inspections
  • \n
  • Troubleshoot spindle assemblies, gearboxes, ball screws, linear guide systems, drives, and motion control components
  • \n
  • Support 5-axis machining systems and CNC machine optimization
  • \n
  • Lead equipment startups and machine acceptance testing
  • \n
  • Train customer maintenance personnel on machine operation and troubleshooting
  • \n
  • Coordinate projects between customers, contractors, engineering teams, and service personnel
  • \n
  • Serve as the resident technical expert supporting a major aerospace manufacturing operation
  • \n

What We're Looking For

\n
    \n
  • Minimum 4 years of experience servicing CNC machine tools, industrial equipment, or automated manufacturing systems
  • \n
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • \n
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, servo systems, and industrial controls
  • \n
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and blueprints
  • \n
  • Experience performing machine alignment, calibration, precision measurement, or laser alignment
  • \n
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • \n

Requirements

  • Technical school, apprenticeship, military technical training, or equivalent experience preferred
