One of the the nation's leading designer and manufacturer of steel work
\nplatforms and mezzanines. Recently launched our automation division to solve one of the
\nbiggest challenges in material handling-controls that are too often rebuilt from scratch, full of
\ndelays, and unpredictable at startup. With this launch, we’re looking for a Controls &
\nAutomation Project Manager professional to join our automation team. *Role does require travel up to 25-30%
\n\nSummary
\nThe Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful execution of mid-size
\ncontrols and automation projects from kickoff through closeout. This role manages project
\nscope, budget, and schedule while coordinating cross-functional engineering, installation, and
\ncommissioning resources. The Project Manager ensures effective customer communication,
\ntimely deliverables, and accurate reporting, while contributing to the continuous improvement
\nof project delivery practices.
\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities

\nSystem Architecture & Standardization
\n• Apply established project delivery standards, templates, and tools.
\n• Maintain project schedules, budgets, and documentation in accordance with
\ncompany SOPs.
\n• Track and enforce compliance with contractual requirements and safety
\nstandards.
\n\nTechnical Leadership & Execution
\n• Develop and manage detailed project plans, including resource assignments and
\nmilestones.
\n• Lead project meetings, document decisions, and maintain action item trackers.
\n• Provide accurate project reporting on status, risks, and financials.
\n• Support field teams during commissioning and installation phases as needed.
\n\nClient Relations & Communication
\n• Serve as the primary customer contact for assigned projects.
\n• Build strong client relationships by maintaining regular communication and
\nresponsiveness.
\n• Manage expectations on scope, budget, and schedule while proactively addressing
\nconcerns.
\n• Represent the company in a professional manner during site visits, meetings, and
\nprogress reviews.
\n\nTeam Development & Mentorship
\n• Provide day-to-day direction to assigned project coordinators, vendors, contractors,
\nengineers, and subcontractors.
\n• Participate in peer reviews and lessons learned sessions.
\n• Model professional communication and customer service for junior team members.
\n\nCross-Functional Collaboration
\n• Coordinate with engineering, estimating, and field services teams to align deliverables.
\n• Serve as primary customer contact for project-related communication.
\n• Support Sales in project definition, scope validation, and estimate reviews.
\n\nStrategic Growth & Innovation
\n• Identify and escalate process improvement opportunities to management.
\n• Contribute to development of standard templates and project management best
\npractices.
\n• Seek ways to improve project efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

\n\nEducation and/or Experience
\n• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related
\nfield.
\n• 8+ years of project management experience in material handling
\nenvironments.
\n\nOther Key Skills
\n• Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Planner, and project reporting tools.
\n• Understanding of controls and electrical project lifecycles.
\n• Strong organizational and communication skills.
\n• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
\n• Travel up to 25–30% for site visits, customer meetings, and commissioning support.
