Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense
Job Description
A fast-growing litigation firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its insurance defense practice. The firm handles premises liability and construction defect matters and offers attorneys the opportunity to manage a smaller, more focused caseload, allowing for greater attention to case strategy and client advocacy.
This position is ideal for a motivated attorney who enjoys litigation, takes ownership of their cases, and is looking for long-term career growth with a clear path to partnership.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage a civil defense caseload from inception through resolution.
Handle all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trial preparation.
Develop case strategy and proactively manage deadlines and litigation activities.
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and the court.
Analyze legal issues, prepare reports, and provide strategic recommendations.
Maintain a high standard of advocacy while delivering excellent client service.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
Active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
Minimum 2 years of practical civil defense litigation experience.
Insurance defense experience required; general liability experience preferred.
Strong preference for candidates with experience handling third-party insurance claims.
Experienced attorneys and partners are encouraged to apply.
Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy skills.
Strong organizational, time management, and case management abilities.
Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to professional growth.
Compensation
$135,000 - $200,000+, based on experience and qualifications.
