Location: Queens, NY
Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 (commensurate with experience)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a large commercial mechanical and HVAC contractor based in Queens, NY, to identify an experienced Senior Project Manager - Electrical Construction. Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of major electrical construction projects-from preconstruction planning and budgeting through execution, financial management, and project closeout.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience managing large-scale commercial electrical projects, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution
  • Lead all phases of commercial electrical construction projects from inception through completion.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee installation of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
  • Coordinate field operations, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively resolve issues impacting scope, schedule, or budget.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
Financial & Contract Management
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and project specifications.
  • Review and negotiate subcontractor proposals and supplier pricing.
  • Support project billing, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Track project profitability and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Leadership & Client Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
  • Lead project coordination meetings and maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders.
  • Partner with estimating and preconstruction teams during project handoff and planning phases.
  • Mentor and develop Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
  • Foster a collaborative and solutions-oriented project culture.
Strategic Planning & Risk Management
  • Drive project scheduling strategies, risk mitigation plans, and value-engineering initiatives.
  • Manage labor planning and resource utilization, including work performed in union environments.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, material procurement challenges, and evolving project delivery methodologies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance project execution and operational efficiency.
Qualifications

Required
  • 8+ years of Project Management experience within electrical construction.
  • Proven success managing large commercial, healthcare, educational, institutional, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including power distribution, switchgear, lighting, emergency power, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience utilizing construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities.
Preferred
  • Experience working in union construction environments, including Local 3.
  • Electrical Engineering degree or related technical background.
  • Experience with design-build and design-assist project delivery methods.
  • OSHA certifications or other construction-related credentials are a plus.
