School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | The Villages, Florida

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting young learners as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in a school setting for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. This full-time, contract role offers the chance to inspire growth and enhance the daily lives of students in the Leesburg and Claremont areas. As an itinerant COTA, you'll collaborate within the educational team across four schools, primarily serving K-5 students, with some responsibilities for Pre-K groups.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Florida professional license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
• Preferred experience working in school-based settings, though all qualified candidates will be considered
• Strong communication and organizational skills for collaboration with multiple school sites
• Comfortable traveling between campuses as an itinerant provider
• Ability to adapt caseload activities for diverse learner needs
• Commitment to timely completion of district onboarding and credentialing processes

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver occupational therapy interventions as delegated by supervising Occupational Therapists
• Support students’ IEP goals with creativity and compassion in daily school activities
• Foster independence and develop functional skills for K-5 and some Pre-K students
• Maintain accurate documentation of services and progress for assigned caseload (46-60 students, finalized roster soon)
• Travel between four assigned schools, with flexible scheduling (not all sites daily)
• Collaborate efficiently with teachers, OTs, and school staff (no meeting responsibilities required typical of OTs)

This contract runs from August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with full-time hours (7:30am – 4:00pm, 30-minute unpaid lunch). The district is actively interviewing candidates on July 21st and values timely completion of credentialing steps, resulting in quick integration into the team.
