Job Description
Step into an impactful opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in the Plano, TX area. This contract position offers full-time hours as you work with a dedicated team at a local elementary campus, providing essential support to students with unique learning needs.
You'll play a vital role in either a life skills, autism, or behavior support classroom, tailoring instruction and interventions to help every student succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Qualifications:
- Accredited bachelor’s degree required
- Valid Texas Special Education certificate (EC-12)
- Previous experience teaching or supporting children in a special education setting, preferably in a life skills, autism, or behavior classroom
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities
- Ability to adapt instruction and develop IEPs tailored to individual student goals
- Must complete TEA fingerprinting if not cleared through another Texas public school recently (please allow up to 7 business days for results)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Deliver differentiated instruction using evidence-based strategies
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Work closely with school staff, support personnel, and families to support student growth
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Support one assigned elementary school campus for the full academic year
