Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the classroom by providing vital support to young learners as a Certified Elementary Cognitively Impaired (CI) Teacher for a full-time, onsite role in the Sterling Heights, MI area. This contract position offers the opportunity to support students in grades K–2 for the 2026–2027 academic year, helping them achieve academic milestones as part of an engaged, collaborative school environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching License with CI or ASD endorsement required
- Certified in CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), or willingness to obtain and maintain certification annually
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged students with cognitive impairments preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students in grades K–2, adapting lessons to meet individual needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct behavioral support, crisis intervention, and positive reinforcement strategies
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and interventions
- Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development sessions as needed
- Support a safe and engaging classroom environment that promotes student growth and well-being
