Our Client is seeking a CNC Manufacturing Engineer II to advance production efficiency, precision, and technical execution within their manufacturing operations in Grand Rapids, MI. This individual will collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and engineering teams to develop production workflows that meet the company's uncompromising standards for quality and craftsmanship. Key ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Engineering & Process ImprovementDrive continuous improvement initiatives across high-mix product lines to improve quality, increase productivity, and reduce rework.
Collaborate closely with Design and Manufacturing teams to ensure new products transition smoothly from concept through production while resolving potential manufacturing issues early.
Develop and optimize machine setups, fixtures, and tooling to improve machining performance and production efficiency.
Refine machining strategies based on machine performance, material characteristics, and production feedback.
Create and maintain CNC machine programs for woodworking operations, translating engineering designs into reliable manufacturing processes.
Review and validate CNC programs prior to production, ensuring proper tooling selection, machine clearances, machining depths, and post-processor accuracy.
Troubleshoot and resolve CNC programming and machining issues while implementing repeatable, production-ready solutions.
Develop setup instructions, machining documentation, tooling requirements, and production work instructions to support operators and manufacturing teams.
Partner with engineering, design, manufacturing, and production personnel to support new product introductions.
Communicate technical requirements clearly to machine operators and production planning teams.
Manage multiple engineering projects while maintaining exceptional attention to quality, accuracy, and deadlines.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment with a strong focus on CNC programming, machine setup, and process engineering.
Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles, including feeds and speeds, workholding, fixture design, and machining sequence planning.
Advanced proficiency with CAM programming software and the ability to interpret CAD models.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining high quality standards.
Proactive mindset with a passion for craftsmanship, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent hands-on CNC manufacturing experience will also be considered.
Experience in woodworking, millwork, furniture manufacturing, or similar industries.
Experience using CAM software such as ALPHACAM, Mastercam, or SWOOD.
Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods based on production requirements.
Lift and move materials, components, and prototypes weighing up to 25 pounds independently.
Manual dexterity to operate tools, handle materials, and work with manufacturing equipment.
Visual ability to read engineering drawings, inspect finished products, and perform precise measurements.
Comfortable working in both office and manufacturing environments, including exposure to machinery, dust, and production noise.
