Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working in elementary and/or high school settings
- Background supporting students in Life Skills or functional academic programs
- Collaborative approach with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Dedication to differentiated instruction and cultivating a positive, inclusive classroom
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Deliver instruction in academic, social, and life skills using engaging, evidence-based strategies
- Foster an encouraging and respectful classroom environment
- Partner with general education teachers and related service providers to ensure student success across settings
- Track student progress and document results, adapting instruction when necessary
- Communicate regularly with families to celebrate progress and address concerns
